Are eBay Promoted Listings still worth it in 2026? Since January 13, 2026 (US and Canada), a general ad sale counts when any buyer buys the item within 30 days of any click on its ad, even if that buyer never clicked. Here's the math that decides if ads pay for you: your margin, the lift you need, and two rules you can set up in 3Dsellers.

- General ads: a percentage of the total sale (2% to 100%), charged when the item sells within 30 days of a click on its ad
- Priority ads: cost per click, with the first ad slot at the top of search
- Your margin is your ceiling: every point of ad rate comes out of it
- The lift test: sales needed = margin ÷ (margin − ad rate). At a 24% margin, an 8% ad needs 1.5x the sales and a 4% ad needs 1.2x
- Rule 1: cap your rate (dynamic ad rate with a Maximum ad rate, or one fixed rate)
- Rule 2: test steady sellers at 2%, eBay's minimum, and automate it with an eBay Ads listings automation
