ChatGPT Reseller Hacks: 3 Prompts That Helped Me Sell 26 Stale Items

Stale inventory happens to every reseller. I had bins of good items that just weren’t moving…until I tried something different. I used ChatGPT like a listing assistant, and the results surprised me. In July, 9 of my 28 sales were Chat-assisted, and in August, 17 of 36. That’s my best reselling month of the year.

Prompt 1 – Relist, Discount, or Donate?
I have [#] stale listings that have been live since [month/year]. My goal is to sell them before [date]. Can you review and advise if I should (1) delete and relist with new copy, (2) move to my $5–$10 eBay sale, or (3) donate?

Prompt 2 – Write Listing Titles, Descriptions & Tags
Please create optimized listing copy for these items. I need:
• Titles (80 characters max for Poshmark, eBay, Mercari)
• Platform-specific descriptions with strong SEO
• Etsy title (140 characters) + 13 tags (20 characters max each)
• Indicate if the item is likely to sell on Depop and create Depop copy if yes

Prompt 3 – Price to Sell Within 3–6 Months
I’m relisting this item. Please research current comps across Poshmark, eBay, Mercari, and Etsy and suggest competitive pricing that will help it sell within 3–6 months. I offer free shipping on Etsy and Mercari.
